BOWLING GREEN SOCCER CLUB

WEEKLY UPDATES and PARENT EDUCATION

We had quite a few games as a club throughout last week, including a few mid-week games. It is great to continue to watch the development with each and every age group in BGSC! We had a lot of games against opponents who beat us in the past, and the score lines and games were very different the second time around. This is another testament to the improvements of our teams as a whole. We thank all of the players for their continued commitment to attending training and working hard at all of our training sessions. The hard work is paying off and it is great to watch!

At BGSC we pride ourselves in good communication. We ask the same from the parents, and appreciate all questions and concerns that are brought to our attention as we know they will make us stronger as a club. Please check out the Parent Education Section at the bottom of this email that reiterates the importance of good communication between parents and coaches.

WEEKEND RESULTS:

Girls Teams
Girls U9 – 1 Loss
The girls had a midweek game last week against a team they already played once this season. Although they came away with a loss, the game was very even, and the score went back and forth quite a bit. Much improvement from the first time these two teams faced each other earlier in the season when the score line was much different!

Girls U10 – 1 win
This team is on a roll! I must apologize, as they had 2 big wins 2 weeks ago during the week that were left out of the weekly email. They continued this winning streak this week with another hard earned victory, over a team who beat them in the past! This game could have went either way, but we were able to come away with the win after scoring some great goals, and most importantly, playing solid defense throughout the whole game!

Girls U11 – 1 win
Another hard earned win for the BGSC last week. This team battled through the cold and wind, and were able to get a couple late goals to come from behind and earn the W! They were under a lot of pressure at the end of the game, and the girls worked hard to keep the ball from going in the back of their net and were able to come away with a great win!

Girls U13 – 1 loss
The U13 girls are continuing to battle, which is our biggest goal with this age group. They are becoming more physical and the games are becoming more and more competitive. Now we just need to get them to play the entire game like they have been playing the 2nd halves! These girls come in ready to train each week, and you can see the improvements each week in their games. We still have work to do!

Boys Teams
Boys U8 – 2 Wins
Two more solid wins for the U8 boys! This team has been playing very well and have been working on individual 1 v 1 situations and 2 v 1 situations. Their development has been shown greatly when taking on defenders and using their foot skills and decision making to beat defenders. Another great week for this team.

Boys U9 – 1 Game
The U9 Boys had a friendly on Saturday against a very strong opponent. Although no one kept score, we feel the boys played very well, and most likely were on top at the final whistle! We saw some great group defending, and individual skill when going forward. It was a great game to watch from both sides, and the improvement with this little team is fun to watch!
Boys U10 – 1 Win, 1 Loss
This group had 2 games this weekend in the same day, and were able to come away with a win in their first game, and a loss in the second game. Both games were against very tough competition, and the unusual heat around here may have played a role in their second game! This group is continuing to battle and compete in every one of their games this season, and they are having a blast while doing so. They are playing some great soccer and keeping their fans entertained, no question about that! Most importantly, they are improving as individual players each and every game and training session.

Boys U11 – 1 Win, 2 Losses
The U11 team had a tough week in regards to roster size. They had a few players missing each game, and were able to have some of the U10 players fill in. Thank you U10 players! The boys were able to come away with a great win on Thursday night, after suffering a tough loss the night before. A great team effort with a solid result. They then had their 3rd and final game of the week in which they had to play with no subs. They put in the fight, and battled the whole game. It was a tough loss but we could not ask any more out of this great group of U11 players after the busy week they had just played. Well done!

Boys U12 – 1 Win
The U12 Boys had a great early week win coming away with a one goal victory! Their game was back and forth, and BGSC was able to take the lead and hold on for a great win. This was especially a great result as we had lost to this team just a few short weeks ago. Again, another sign of our continued development and improvement throughout the club! Great work boys!

DROP INS Parent Education Article

The Drop In numbers are continuing to be high! Even with teams having mid week games on the nights of Drop Ins, we still have 15-20 players a night. This is great to see compared to last season, with under 10 each night! We look forward to continuing growing numbers at these fun nights for our BGSC players!
